Sunday School. Give your child the gift of a solid foundation for spiritual growth in the Christian tradition. Our curriculum for the three youngest children’s classes is from our United Methodist publishing house (Cokesbury), and is called “Deep Blue.” Using a water motif, Deep Blue reminds us at several levels of the Christian journey, beginning with the waters of baptism, the redemption of the Israelites through the waters of the Red Sea during the Exodus, and the ancient depiction of the church as a sailboat traveling across the sea—a place of refuge.  Our children are going to love the multiple learning styles that it uses, and we have a wonderful teaching team—as usual!

We welcome our new and expanded group of Godly Play “Guides” for this year!  Since we added an additional section of Godly Play, we need twice as many Guides (those who serve with the Storyteller to help create a “community of children” for learning and worship together in the joyful spirit of Christ). Our team this year is:  Donna Oudersluys, Mary Lee Dimond, Pat Elzerman, Nancy Hilliard, Sara Miller, Carol Oakley, JoAnne Ivey, Margie Bultema, RuthAnn Uggen, Shondo Miller, Brian Moon, Jennifer Moon, and Ashley McKenzie.

Christian Day Camp (VBS).  Save the dates for “Christian Day Camp” (that is what we’re calling our week of learning and exploring God’s word and way this summer). The dates will be Monday through Friday, June 26-30, 2017 and will be hosted by our neighbor, the First Congregational United Church of Christ. We will join forces with them, St. Luke’s Episcopal, and First Presbyterian churches to share a week learning about “God’s Garden/God’s City.”  We will need adult leaders and volunteers in a number of roles! More info coming soon!

Deep Blue is the new awe-inspiring resource for children which includes adventure, exciting stories, science experiments, arts and crafts, animated video storytelling, and active games-all combined into a living–faith experience that will help children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today!

"In the depths of who I am I rejoice in God my savior."
