First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo

Richard G. Knapp Major Projects Fund

Richard G. (Dick) Knapp was a dedicated lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was involved with several community groups and enjoyed helping to enrich the Kalamazoo community by supporting and promoting musical arts, theater, history, literature, environmental protection, and human rights initiatives. Dick passed away in 2015, leaving a bequst to the church as part of his estate plan. Dick's bequest indicates that the money he left to First UMC should be used "for major projects, rather than regular operating budget." The Request for Project Proposals process invites project proposals from First UMC groups and committees for use of the Fund that would most closely allign with the criteria that it will help support the ministries of the church.

The Committee is now accepting proposals for spring 2017 consideration.  Application forms may be obtained at the FUMC office or Welcome Center.  Deadlines for the spring 2017 submission are April 17, 2017 (Project Synopsis) and May 14, 2017 (Final Project Proposal).  Proposals should be directed to:

FUMC, 212 S. Park Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007; Attn: Ruth LaMachia
