Salvation Army Angel Tree
November 19 - December 10
We will once again support the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program this Christmas season. Our tree with tags will be up Thursday, Nov. 16 and the gifts should be returned unwrapped with the tag attached by Sunday, Dec. 10. The tags will have an age and gender as well as several suggestions for gift ideas. Unlike other programs, the tag does not correlate to a specific child or family. All gift items are collected and placed in Salvation Army's Christmas Toy Shop. The week of Christmas, pre-registered parents or guardians are welcomed into Toy Shop at the Salvation Army office on Burdick Street to pick out gifts for the children. This allows the children to receive items they want, and it allows the parents to feel included in the process. As they "shop" for their children, they regain a sense of dignity by providing a happy Christmas morning. Christmas Toy Shop is made possible through the donations of toys and the hundreds of volunteers who help turn the gym into "Santa's Workshop." Anyone interested in volunteering for this year's Toy Shop may contact the Salvation Army at 269-344-6119.
