YOUTH MINISTRIES

If you are interested in going on the ASP trip this summer (June 23-30), please submit a check for $100 made out to the church (memo: ASP) before February 19. We are committed to taking a max of 42 volunteers this year, so respond soon!

Thank you to everyone who supported Youth Missions by eating spaghetti on a snowy evening and eating warm soup and sandwiches after church. We are grateful for your support and look forward to the opportunities of service and mission that are ahead of us.

Youth Sunday is February 19 @ 8:30 and 11:00 worship. We will be celebrating "Let your Light Shine!" Our youth have been preparing skits, a liturgical dance, music and reflections on what it means to share your God given light. Please join us for this celebration.

You are invited...

We are simply dying for you to join our YOUTH TRIBE

Youth grades 7-12 are invited to attend Youth Tribe all year long. Youth Tribe is most often held on Sunday nights from 6-8pm, Some events will have different times or days. You are also invited to join us for Java Jive Sunday morning youth classes each Sunday from 9:30 – 10:30. It’s the game of life and we all need as many Clues as we can get to figure it all out. Jesus is the Clue Master, let’s follow and learn together.

Don’t miss the party!

Our youth ministry is a very exciting and active part of FUMC. We provide a variety of programs to meet the various needs of the youth of our church and our community. Java & Jive, our Youth Sunday School classes at 9:30 a.m. are special interest classes geared just for youth. Confirmation classes are offered for eighth graders every spring. Youth Tribe is the Sunday evening program for youth that begins at 6 p.m. Tribe is a combination of missions, Bible study, fellowship and FUN! In the past year Youth Tribe has:

  • Assisted with the ministry of the food pantry
  • Baked pies to raise funds for ministry and missions
  • Held a silent auction to raise funds for ministry and missions
  • Served lunch at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission
  • Spent an afternoon playing games with Rickman House residents

Youth Ministry Vision

The Youth Ministry of First United Methodist Church strives to inspire and motivate youth and families to be actively engaged in developing and building a life of faith. The vision is to embrace these critical years of self-discovery and enhance the lives of our youth through engaging, faith-led programs, adult mentors and family activities which will contribute to a life-long journey of faith. The exploration and discovery of youth ministries will include:

  • engaging in ministries of love, justice, and service
  • celebrating in worship, sacraments, and education
  • exploring meaning and mystery in the Bible
  • fun and fellowship within a youth community that is led and shaped by the Holy Spirit

Youth and parents! Don’t hesitate to email me at any time. Also, my door is always open if you wish to stop by the church and talk.

Life is good!

Pastor Julie Kline
