Children & Families Ministries (CFM)
Sunday School has started! Please join us!
Give your child the gift of a solid foundation for spiritual growth in the Christian tradition. Our curriculum for our children’s classes is from our United Methodist publishing house (Cokesbury), and is called “Deep Blue.” Using a water motif, Deep Blue reminds us at several levels of the Christian journey, beginning with the waters of baptism, the redemption of the Israelites through the waters of the Red Sea during the Exodus, and the ancient depiction of the church as a sailboat traveling across the sea—a place of refuge. Our children are going to love the multiple learning styles that it uses and we have a wonderful teaching team—as usual!
A Look at our Sunday School hour
9:30 - Kids Perks. Join us at 9:30am sharp on the 2nd floor in the arches and children can enjoy a quick snack before we get started! Parents: please sign up on the sheet to be our Snack Hero for the week!
9:40 - Music. We are so excited to have about 10-15 minutes of music each week with either Carol Grant or our musical intern from Western, Brianna Attard to sing and play the chimes or bells! The children will get to sing or ring in church something that they have been practicing with these two amazing leaders about once a month!
9:55 - Video/Bible story. We will watch our Bible Story video together in the arches and then the we will do a fun dramatic reenactment of the Bible Story before dividing into two classes.
10:05 - Divide into two classes. After the Bible Story we will divide into two classes to dig a little deeper into the story with our Sunday school classes. 4 years through 2nd grade will meet with Anne Sherfield and Emilie Faillo in room 209. 3rd grade through 6th grade will meet with in room 203 with Colleen Treman, Lisa Coe and Jonathan Richardson.
10:30 - Prompt dismissal. Please pick up your children promptly at 10:30 a.m. from their Sunday School rooms. During Sunday School, parents are welcome to hang out in the arches and drink coffee or take their coffee to the Family Foundations class on the 3rd floor! Family Foundations is a Sunday School class made for parents. Family Foundations is kicking off the year with a look at Mr. Roger's and how he handled discussions of tough topics. This 6-week session will conclude with a group viewing of the new Mr. Rogers movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks. Please consider joining them in room 304.

Looking for a Few Good Leaders and Assistants! The Children’s Sunday School is still looking for some folks who are interested in helping our young children grow in faith each Sunday morning in the coming school year. Sunday school leaders and assistants serve every other month, alternating with another faithful team. We could also use a few more storytellers and guides for Godly Play during the 11:00 a.m. worship hour. All materials are provided, as well as training and support! Please call Julia at 381-6340 x 232 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more about this wonderful opportunity!
Deep Blue is the new awe-inspiring resource for children which includes adventure, exciting stories, science experiments, arts and crafts, animated video storytelling, and active games-all combined into a living–faith experience that will help children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today!
