Academy Class: Reclaiming Jesus
September 16 - October 21, 9:30 - 10:30 am
Reclaiming Jesus: Confessing our Faith in a Time of Crisis (Parlor)
Based, in part, upon an ecumenical document signed by twenty-three American clergy, this six-week class led by Rev. Jerry Toshalis will explore the interface between personal faith and public policy. Focused upon the experience of belief as it affects perception, judgment and behavior, participants will be invited into a time of personal and shared discernment. Among the questions to be embraced include the following:
• How am I to know when my thoughts, feelings, and behavior reflect God’s will?
• When the policies of elected leaders contradict my faith, how am I called to respond?
• Is it possible to remain prayerfully engaged when political discourse becomes polarized?
• Where might I find hope in the midst of fear, injustice and alienation?
