May Mission of the Month
Nationwide, less than 10% of youth who have experienced foster care successfully complete college. The Seita Scholars Program at WMU was the first higher education program in Michigan to address that gap by providing a scholarship and support program for youth who have been in foster care during their teen years. With WMU's spring graduation on April 27, the program will see its 150th Seita Scholar graduate cross the stage at Miller Auditorium.
The Seita Scholar program consists of three important elements: financial assistance, a community of peers who have faced similar obstacles and a Campus Coach who supports the student throughout their college career. The Program relies significantly on individuals and organizations throughout the community to provide the personal needs of these college students. Join us in May in helping to meet these summer needs of the Seita Scholars:
Full-size shampoo and conditioner
Full-size body wash, bar soaps or lotions
Toilet paper (4 double rolls)
