Midnight Oil: Among Us, God at Work
Led by Rev. Julie Kline
Matthew 25:1-13
This Sunday is an opportunity to reflect on our commitment to the common good. No matter what happens with the elections and the political process there will be those who feel like they have been ushered into the wedding banquet and those who will feel shut out and denied. These have been difficult and challenging times for our local communities, our country, and our world. Divisive and heated rhetoric have dominated the public dialogue. As we enter into these times before us, we must be engaged with our lamps trimmed and waiting, ready to respond. Our response cannot get stuck in cynicism and mistrust. As people of faith, we must be about empowering every voice and offering a hope filled vision for the future of all people. The shout at midnight, the midnight oil is the recognition that God is at work among us. Where do we see that presence and how might we live each day aware of that presence? Let us celebrate Coffeehouse style worship and know that something is always brewing with God.
