Rhythms of the Soul
Led by Rev. Matt Weiler
John 1: 43-51
Week Two of our “Rhythms of the Soul” series lands just days before the Presidential Inauguration and shortly after the violent events that took place at our nation's Capital. With tensions, anxieties, fears and hopes for what lies in our future, we hear the words of Andra Day in her song "Rise Up."
You're broken down and tired /Of living life on a merry go round
And you can't find the fighter /But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains / We gonna walk it out / And move mountains
We hear Ms. Day’s words (sung for us by Mandakini Brophy) next to Jesus’ invitation to the earliest disciples to follow him. This invitation is an invitation into community. It is an invitation to find hope in the midst of darkness. It is an invitation to some tired fisherman to rise up and turn the world upside down. Together they walk and move mountains. The words of the text speak to us, inviting us to follow as well. And in following, we will rise.
