The David Rohs Youth Fund held at the United Methodist Foundation of Michigan and managed by First UMC Trustees is a scholarship of up to $1,000 for youth and young adults who are active participants at Kalamazoo First United Methodist Church.
Youth and young adults adults may apply for scholarships from January to March 31 every year for up to $1,000 to attend a college, university or seminary. Scholarships of $500 are also a possibility to attend a community college/trade school. The scholarships may be used for tuition and fees, room and board, books, transportation and personal expenses associated with the cost of education.
If youth and young adults adults who are active participants at FUMC choose a Methodist-related college, university or seminary (in U.S.), the possibility exists for quadrupling the $1,000 through the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation Dollars for Scholars program.
Students may receive awards from the Rohs Scholarship Fund for a limit of two years.
An Associate Pastor and two Trustees are involved in the application review process, with final approval by the First UMC Board of Trustees.
Applications for the 2021 Rohs Scholarship are now available to download. The deadline is March 31, 2021. Late applications will not be accepted.
